In an extraordinary meeting in Mainz, the Supervisory Board unanimously voted for the long-serving Rhineland-Palatinate politician to head the Koblenz-based gambling company. "We look forward to working with Christian Baldauf and warmly welcome him to the top of the company. With him, we are gaining a leader who will actively shape Lotto GmbH and its key areas of growth, modernization, and player protection," said the newly elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board, State Secretary Dr. Fedor Rose, and the Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting, Rudolf Storck.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board also thanked the outgoing Managing Director: "Jürgen Häfner successfully led the company for twelve years with great experience, integrity, loyalty, and professionalism. He can look back on a very successful track record in all areas and leaves behind a very well-positioned organization."
Christian Baldauf will take over as CEO of the company on June 1, 2026, and is looking forward to his new role: “Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz stands for integrity, trust, and social responsibility. I am excited to continue the successful work together with the 155 employees and to further develop the gaming offerings for the people of Rhineland-Palatinate in a contemporary way – especially with regard to digitalization, player protection, and the fight against illegal gambling,” said Christian Baldauf. He also wants to further strengthen the company's social commitment and continue its sponsorship activities in the areas of sports and culture. The sales network with its approximately 870 retail outlets, which strengthens rural areas, is also very important to him.
The new CEO lives in Frankenthal, is married, and has two children. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and cycling in the Palatinate region. During his political career, his colleagues valued him as a clear communicator who prepares decisions in a structured manner while also seeking dialogue.
Outgoing Managing Director Jürgen Häfner looks back on his tenure with pride: “Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz is a strong company with a highly professional team. I thank all employees and the governing bodies for their trust and excellent cooperation over the past twelve years. I wish the company continued success and a bright future.”
