Tennessee Education Lottery Reports Increase in Education Funding

Total Raised for Education Now Stands at More Than $8.39 Billion.  “This year’s results are a testament to the Lottery’s commitment to the innovative and efficient business strategies that have been the foundation of generating billions in education funding for more than 22 years,” said Rebecca Paul, Lottery President and CEO. “Students and families continue to benefit from the Lottery, as do Tennessee Lottery players and retailers. LOTTERY REPORTS INCREASE IN EDUCATION FUNDING

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Education Lottery today announced its fiscal year-end results, which show an increase of $15.2 million in total education funding over the previous year. The grand total raised for college scholarships, grants and after-school programs since inception now stands at over $8.39 billion.

“This year’s results are a testament to the Lottery’s commitment to the innovative and efficient business strategies that have been the foundation of generating billions in education funding for more than 22 years,” said Rebecca Paul, Lottery President and CEO. “Students and families continue to benefit from the Lottery, as do Tennessee Lottery players and retailers. Every ticket is a win for education.”

With today’s fourth quarter transfer to the Lottery for Education Account of $107,280,000, total funding for all Lottery-funded education programs is now $8.39 billion. More than 2.5 million higher education scholarships and grants have been awarded to Tennessee students, and more than a thousand K-12 after-school programs have been funded since inception.

Additionally, since inception on Jan. 20, 2004, players have won more than $22.9 billion in prizes and Lottery retailers have been paid more than $2.2 billion in commissions.
