Mega Millions ticket holder in Florida wins massive $800 million jackpot

Someone in Florida had a great start to their Wednesday after Mega Millions announced that a single jackpot-winning ticket worth an estimated $800 million was sold right here in the Sunshine State.

This is now the third Mega Millions jackpot win of 2026, and it's the 10th largest jackpot in the game's history.

And when it comes to jackpot wins, Florida is no stranger to seeing new millionaires.

According to Mega Millions, Florida holds the game's >record jackpot of $1.602 billion, which was won almost three years ago on Aug. 8, 2023.

Since joining Mega Millions back in 2013, Mega Millions said Florida has won or shared in a total of six Mega Millions jackpots.

Where was the winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Florida?

After hours of speculation, the Florida Lottery announced where the winning Mega Millions jackpot ticket was sold.

The ticket was sold at a Wawa at 14510 State Road 70 East in Bradenton, north of Sarasota on Florida's Gulf coast.

"We are thrilled to congratulate Florida's newest Mega Millions jackpot winner on this incredible, life-changing moment," Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald Dixon said. "This win is an exciting reminder that every ticket carries the possibility of a dream come true. We are especially grateful to our valued Florida Lottery players, whose continued support helps generate funding for education across our state. Every ticket purchased contributes to creating brighter futures for Florida's students."

Florida Mega Millions jackpot winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

If the winner is looking to collect the one-time, lump-sum cash payment option, the claim must be filed within 60 days of the drawing date.
