TEXAS LOTTERY WINS
TWO DAVEY AWARDS FOR IN-HOUSE CREATIVE WORK
AUSTIN — The Texas Lottery has once again been recognized for its outstanding in-house creative work, earning two Davey Awards for its excellence in video production and storytelling. This year, in the 21st year of the competition, the Texas Lottery received Silver Awards in two categories:
- Social Video – How-To, Explainer & DIY for a Mega Millions® How to Play video aimed at helping players learn about the game, which was refreshed in April. The video features a bright color palette that highlights the game’s updates as a fun and fresh experience. Its visual approach blends hand-drawn graphics, video animation and in-house footage to showcase the game in an engaging way for both new and existing players, in a welcoming and approachable way.
- Social Features – Best Use of Photography & Graphics for its Holiday Gift Guide 2024 video to highlight the varied selection of scratch ticket games offered to players with different interests. This vibrant project was featured on the Texas Lottery’s social media channels during the holiday season to promote seasonal scratch tickets. The video pairs striking photography with video graphics and animation to help players see how lottery products can be part of their holiday celebrations.
The Davey Awards, presented by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), honors the best work from boutique creative agencies, in-house brand teams, small production companies, and independent creators across websites, design and print, video, advertising and marketing, mobile apps and sites, social media, branded entertainment, emerging tech and podcasts.
The Texas Lottery’s award-winning entries were developed and produced entirely in-house – with no external production costs – by Multimedia Communications Specialist Melina Madrigal alongside Video Producer Philip Bates, Social Media Specialist Mehul Shah and Brand Strategy Coordinator Andrew Leeper.
“We’re thrilled to see our team’s creativity and dedication recognized on a national stage,” said Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which now oversees the Texas Lottery. “These awards reflect our commitment to producing engaging, high-quality content that connects with our players and supports our mission.”
This is the second consecutive year the Texas Lottery has been honored by the Davey Awards. In 2024, the program earned a Silver Award for its Year of the Dragon scratch ticket promotional video. And last month the Texas Lottery picked up multiple industry accolades from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL), also in honor of its creative audio and visual work.
