FRIDAY’S MEGA MILLIONS® JACKPOT NEARS $1 BILLION

Current jackpot worth an estimated annuitized $980 million is the 8th largest in game history

AUSTIN — The Mega Millions® jackpot for the Friday, Nov. 14 drawing has climbed to an estimated annuitized $980 million, with a cash value worth an estimated $452.2 million, offering Texas Lottery® players the chance to win big going into the weekend. Tonight’s jackpot is the game’s largest of 2025 and the eighth largest in its history. If there is no jackpot winner in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing, the jackpot for the Tuesday, Nov. 18 drawing will roll to an estimated annuitized $1.05 billion.“Tonight, someone in the Lone Star State stands the chance to win what would be the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won by a Texas player,” said Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which oversees the Texas Lottery. “We’re proud that every ticket purchased in Texas helps support public education, and we ask players to play responsibly and remember it only takes one ticket to win.”

Friday’s drawing will be the 40th in the current Mega Millions jackpot run since starting at an estimated annuitized $50 million for the July 1 drawing, marking the longest jackpot run in Mega Millions history. This is the game’s largest jackpot up for grabs since the Dec. 27, 2024 drawing when an estimated annuitized $1.269 billion jackpot was won in California.

Texas has had 15 Mega Millions jackpot prize winners since it joined the game in 2003, most recently on Sept. 10, 2024. The Sol Living Trust, of Sugar Land, chose the cash value option for the estimated annuitized $810 million jackpot prize and received $409,297,624 before taxes.

Mega Millions is a multijurisdictional game with tickets sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game is played by choosing five numbers from a field of 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second field of 24 numbers. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all six numbers drawn including the Mega Ball. Players matching fewer numbers may not win the jackpot, but could still walk away winners. Mega Millions offers a $50 million starting jackpot and a second-tier (Match 5+0) prize between $2 million and up to $10 million depending on the built-in Multiplier randomly selected for each Play. The Multiplier increases non-Jackpot Prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times the prize won.

Drawings are conducted on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Georgia and are broadcast at 10:12 p.m. CT at texaslottery.com. In Texas, ticket sales for Mega Millions drawings close at 9:45 p.m. CT on draw nights. Texas Lottery retailers that sell a jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket may be eligible to receive up to a $250,000 retailer bonus.
