Stylsvig will be a member of the Board of Management, reporting directly to HKJC CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
According to a company release, the new hire will oversee the club’s sports business portfolio ‘and drive end-to-end commercial growth across horse racing, football, lottery and emerging sporting opportunities’.
The move comes as Hong Kong aims to legalize basketball betting, a massive potential new revenue stream – and set to be run by the HKJC under a monopoly.
Stylsvig will responsible for growing both non-wagering and wagering income streams, including creating new streams ‘especially from sponsorships and partnerships’. He will also ‘spearhead new ventures, including global growth opportunities’.
Stylsvig most recently served as the Chief Revenue Officer at Chelsea FC, having previously served in leadership roles at FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Fulham FC and AC Milan.
Speaking of his appointment, Stylsvig noted “This role represents a natural progressive next step in my career — bringing together best practices from global football to help shape the future of a truly unique, multi-sport business.”
