Dutch regulator allocates almost €2m to new national alliance against gambling harm

Dutch regulator allocates almost €2m million in funding to establish a new national cooperation platform aimed at detecting gambling harm earlier and preventing escalation. The initiative, called the National Alliance for Early Detection of Gambling Harm (SVSG), will bring together addiction experts, health agencies and debt-support organisations.

The alliance includes the Trimbos Institute, Addiction Expertise Netherlands (VKN), the National Association of Municipal Health Services and Regional Medical Emergency Services (GGD GHOR Netherlands), and the Dutch Debt Help Route (NSR), working closely with addiction treatment providers, municipalities and people with lived experience. The subsidy is financed through the Addiction Prevention Fund, funded via a levy on licensed gambling operators.
