UAE Lottery operator achieves country-first with WLA certification
The Game LLC, operator of The UAE Lottery, has obtained Level 2 certification under the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming Framework, becoming the only licensed lottery operator in the UAE to achieve the certification.
The certification, which was supported by DigitalRG, marks an advance from baseline responsible gaming commitments to a more formalised programme, with defined governance, processes and accountability across the organisation.
A spokesperson for The UAE Lottery said the certification reflected progress in embedding responsible play into the lottery’s operations as it expands.
“This certification marks a step forward in how The UAE Lottery is operated, with responsible play embedded into the program as it grows,” they said.
“After attaining membership of the World Lottery Association, we focused on further strengthening our alignment with international best practices, leading to the achievement of WLA Responsible Gaming Level 2 certification.
“As an entity licensed by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) to operate the UAE’s first and only federally licensed lottery, this certification reflects our commitment to clear player safeguards and continuous improvement as the lottery continues to grow.
“Our goal is simple. We want to keep the experience exciting while making sure players have the guidance and support they need.”
UAE Lottery ups its game
The organisation was awarded the UAE’s first national lottery licence in July 2024, with the lottery launching in November 2024.
Since launch, The UAE Lottery has recorded more than 800,000 registered players across the country and has paid out over AED 165 million (£32.8m) in prizes. Weekly draws have since been added to the product offering.
In September 2025, it introduced Pick 4 – a daily draw game that offers players the chance to win prizes of up to AED 25,000 (approx £5,000) for AED 5 (approx £1) per entry.
The WLA Level 2 certification was reviewed by an Independent Assessment Panel, which assessed The Game LLC’s responsible gaming framework following a self-assessment and gap analysis, as well as the company’s roadmap for further development.
The UAE is positioning itself as a prominent hub for the iGaming industry in the Middle East, albeit with strict standards for cultural and religious regions. So far, the Lottery is the primary gaming vertical on offer, though the Wynn Al Marjan Island casino resort is under construction and a number of B2B companies have been awarded supplier licences.
